Myles Thomson is a jazz pianist from Victoria, BC, Canada. Now back in town somewhat permanently from studying music in Toronto, Myles is looking to fully re-immerse himself in the local music scene, which he observed and listened to for a number of years before entering its ranks as a performer at the age of 17.
Now six years down the road, Myles has found himself performing and/or recording with a plethora of local musicians including Damian Graham, Brooke Maxwell, Joey Smith, Noah Becker, Don Lepard, Lou Williamson, Josh Dixon, James Young, Eric Hughes, Rhys Batstone, Andrew Rollins, Oliver Swain, Tom Ackerman, Dan Hersog, Nick La Riviere, Dan Cook, Brin Porter, and Adam Dobres. Myles has performed at such venues as The Superior, Pagliacci’s, The Black Olive, Heron Rock Bistro, Steamer's,
The Fairmont Empress Hotel, Victoria Conference Centre, Coast Bastion Inn, The Black Stilt, Victoria Event Centre, Hermann’s Jazz Club, and the Esquimalt High School Auditorium for an opening for Canadian jazz luminaries Christine Jensen and Dave Restivo.
Aside from playing indoors, Myles has also enjoyed playing outdoors on the streets of Victoria in the fall of 2004 and the summers of 2005-2007 with his rustically out of tune busking piano. Now in April, 2009,
Myles is currently taking a month off to write new music and practice his solo piano in preparation for his upcoming May to August summer busking spree! Probably the most exciting change for Myles will be his switch to busking with his keyboard, rather than his magenta busking piano. Although not as visually appealing, the keyboard will extremely enhance the listening experience. So stop by this summer and have a listen!
